Unfortunately unlike several cities, Vancouver has taken a very slow approach towards building a potential bus-bridge or a bus-tunnel. Especially, opting to take a slow growth approach towards getting a commuter train across the inlet. Aparenty, it's so much better to maintain bottleneck planning with so many chokepoints. Fortunately, most cities refuse to adhere to Vancouverizing urban areas.

When streets are kept so narrow its very difficult to have a proper network of bus-lanes. If bridges are stubbornly kept so narrow, then there should be some bus-bridges.
That's the Vancouverism mentality in action.
